White iPad 2 with A5 chip gives iPhone 5 lusters reason to be excited

The iPad 2 is here, and it’s about what had been expected: thinner, lighter, faster, camera-laden, and longer lasting – and of course not a word about the iPhone 5 in the process. But nonetheless, iPhone users should take note of a couple of intriguing new treats with the iPad 2 which had been postulated but weren’t widely expected: its runs Apple’s new A5 processor, which means it’s not just faster, it’s faster. And in addition to black, the iPad 2 comes in white. While that last past must be giving folks a coronary who have waited through the entire iPhone 4 era for a white iPhone 4 to surface, only to see the iPad get the white option instead, today’s iPad 2 news is actually very good news for those who are looking forward to the iPhone 5.

First, we now know that the A5 processor is in fact real and ready to go. If it’s in the iPad 2 already, then it’ll have no problem finding its way into the iPhone 5 this summer. So much for claims that the entire iPhone 5 launch could be delayed due to the processor not being ready by then; it’s ready now. And secondly, those who still hold a flame for the white iPhone can rest easy today after seeing that Apple has not given up on the color white entirely when it comes to its iOS devices; the white iPad 2 means that consumers can likely count on a white iPhone 5 being available when the time comes. So while today was officially all about the iPad 2 (and we’ll have plenty more on that for you throughout the day), read between the lines and you can see that iPhone users, specifically those whose thoughts have already turned to the iPhone 5, unofficially came up winners today as well. Here’s more on iPhone 5. Here’s more on iPad 2.
