Latest iOS 4.3.1 Gets Jailbroken (But Not iPad 2)

The iPhone software modding community out there has come up with another win, as the Dev-Team have published an untethered jailbreak software solution for iOS devices running version 4.3.1, save for the iPad 2.

Owners of the follow devices can now use the new redsn0w or PwnageTool to unlock their iDevices for app freedom:

* iPhone3GS

* iPhone4 (GSM)

* iPod touch 3G

* iPod touch 4G

* iPad1

* AppleTV 2G (PwnageTool only for now)

Those with the iPad 2 wait for a different exploit to be found. According to the Dev-Team, "The reason the untether won’t work as-is on the iPad2 is that it requires a bootrom or iBoot-level exploit to install, and the iPad2 is not susceptible to either the limera1n or SHAtter bootrom exploits."

Those who rely on the ultrasn0w baseband unlocking solution are advised to hold off on updating and jailbreaking, as the software required for the unlock isn't quite ready yet. For everyone else though, this is the way out of Apple's walled garden.
