If you have been keeping up with the frequent Samsung Galaxy S III stream of rumors, you’ll know that the latest details emerging on the handset is that it could have a thickness of just 7mm, making it one of the thinnest smartphones on the market alongside the Motorola Droid RAZR.
We told you about that in our report earlier this week, but we believe that smartphone thinness isn’t really what consumers want to see in the next generation smartphone. The one big problem that plagues most smartphones, even the ‘mighty’ iPhone 4S is battery life, with a lot of handsets failing to deliver on high expectations when it comes to battery life demands.
We don’t want any more smartphones with just 6-7 hours of battery life, we want smartphones that can last all day on heavy usage and one smartphone manufacturer that seems to be getting this is Motorola. The company has just launched their Droid RAZR MAXX variant, and it’s a device that comes packed with a whopping 3,300mAh battery, making it the longest lasting smartphone on the market right now.
It can handle over 10 hours of heavy usage, that’s usage like hammering videos, music and websites non-stop – just what users crave for when buying a phone which claims to offer superior battery life compared to the rest. The device is arguably Verizon’s best smartphone at the moment, and we just hope that other manufacturers take note of this and start building smartphones with the same battery life priorities in mind.
The Droid RAZR MAXX isn’t an ugly device either – it obviously packs a little more weight than the original Droid Razr due to the bigger battery, but a 0.35 inches thickness and a 5.22 ounces weight won’t really matter to consumers too much if they can finally pummel 4G LTE data to their heart’s content.
So that brings us back to the Samsung Galaxy S III. A quad-core processor would be fantastic obviously, but please Samsung – let’s see a 3300 battery included as well. The S II is just fine in terms of thickness so we would rather see a bigger battery equipped rather than a 7mm thinness like we hear rumored.
